Migration Australia
Hospitality, Hairdressing and Accounting - Study jobs in demand for skills shortages at Carrick Institute.
The Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL) lists occupations and specialisations identified by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) that are in short supply.
Currently, the hospitality, hairdressing and accounting sectors are listed on the Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL). The Australian Government announced that all three of these industries will remain on the MODL in the 2009/10 financial year despite speculation these courses would be removed.
The Australian Government states "The priority arrangements implemented on 1 January 2009 will remain in place for the 2009-10 skilled migration program, which has a cap of 108 100 places. This will ensure that employer-sponsored and government-sponsored visas continue to be fast-tracked and will remain uncapped."
For international students this means hospitality, hairdressing and accounting remain some of the best course options for international students wanting to obtain part-time work and ultimately permanent residency in Australia.
Carrick offers courses in hospitality, hairdressing and accounting for international students to alleviate the nationwide skills shortage as local interest simply cannot meet the industry demand.
Carrick endorses ACPET's position statement in which ACPET supports the Government's initiatives to raise the standards of education and training and states future plans to increase the contribution private education can make to skilled migration.
Carrick's vocational courses in hospitality, hairdressing and the higher education program, the Bachelor of Accounting are enrolling now for the June and July 2009 intakes. Carrick offers courses in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide to alleviate the skills shortage.
